  5. Hemp Can Help Save the Environment

Hemp is one of the most versatile plants on our planet, so it should come as no surprise that if properly utilized, hemp can help save the environment. It is not only a CBD source, but its fiber and seeds are able to make things that we use in our modern world and these include clothing, fuel, fabric, plastic and concrete; just to name a few. Most of these items listed, so many people depend on. When you use hemp products as alternatives, it is much better for our planet and it is less toxic for consumers to worry about.

Why are hemp products so environmentally friendly? Let’s not confuse hemp products with products made with the cannabis plant. It has been since 4000 BCE that hemp farming came into existence. Additionally, even with its medicinal uses, hemp products are relevant today in comparison to so long ago. Let us examine how hemp products can help our environment and surroundings.

No Pesticides

You can grow hemp without having to worry about pesticides because it can thrive without that. When you are growing hemp, you don’t have to use herbicides or pesticides to have an harvest. Pesticides are not good for the environment because they can cause you to get ill. They can contaminate your air, water supply and sol and they can also reduce your biodiversity.

The Farmer

For farmers who reap large industrial hemp crop that might include cotton and soybeans, the farmer may use large quantities of pesticides. If any of this is transitioned to hemp, there would be a global effect as it relates to pesticides. Additionally, you don’t need a lot of water to grow hemp products. In fact, you would only use a small percentage of water compared to seventy percent used in the entire agriculture industry. Hemp products is a crop that is considered to be non-water intensive.

Fuel Source

Hemp products also offer a sustainable fuel source. It is safe to say that you know for a fact that oil extraction and fossil fuel emissions do impact the environment. Hemp is a biodiesel source by contrast, which means that it is a kind of fuel that comes from the plant matter. One side bar to consider though is that biofuel uses up expensive land for crops used to farm food. However, due to the fact that hemp grows in poor soil and in a wide range of climates, if you were to farm it, you wouldn’t be allocated with valuable farmland. Biofuel comes from seeds and not from plant stock and that makes a considerable difference.

Cost and Durability

There is a global demand for cement and concrete and as it stands right now, there will be an increase of seven percent all the way through 2020. Cement is the main ingredient or component in concrete. It also has an eight percent carbon emissions challenge. Hempcrete is one kind of concrete that is made from hemp and you can find it in lots of places around the world, but more so in France. This type of concrete is not as brittle as other traditional concrete and it has more insulating capabilities as well to regulate moisture. This is one of the hemp products that are very popular.

The Cotton Alternative

When it comes to non-consumable crops around the world, cotton is one of the most popular. It reduces soil quality, but it also uses pesticides that contribute to freshwater pollution. The traditional cotton requires insecticides and pesticides to thrive and so why not use a cotton alternative in hemp products? That is what a lot of people are doing.
