Marijuana Concentrates

Marijuana is delicate when it is in its raw flower form. However, when it is in concentrate form, it is more lucid and stronger. Concentrates from strong marijuana strains tend to have a higher level of potency than the flower is. It has a higher level of portability and reduced perish-ability. That means, it can be kept longer and can be transported easily. This is the reason why early marijuana concentrates in the form of hashish or hash oil was able to spread throughout the world in ancient times. During that period, hashish was being traded along with products like turmeric and cinnamon, ranking a high commodity among these and other products that help in the treatment of various ailments.

Additionally, marijuana concentrates were deemed to be sufficiently valuable to be transported at long distances. In fact, countries like Persia and India welcomed marijuana concentrates like hashish or hash oil at that time. Of course, hashish did have its share of being rejected and banned by some religious leaders in the Muslim community. But, this was only temporary as cannabis became more accepted than alcohol in subsequent years, even for those religious leaders.

Hashish Smoking

Hashish smoking was not common until tobacco was introduced in the 1500s. Marijuana concentrates before that time was consumed by many as an infused product – in the form of edibles. If you were to travel to Morocco today, you would stumble upon the Berber Villages that consists of families who spend a lot of time with marijuana cultivation while dry sifting the marijuana concentrates to use for traditional methods they have become accustomed to. The question now is how did you we go from past hashish to contemporary waxes, dab, concentrates and live resins?

The Charas Method

There were several innovative techniques used these days to make cannabis concentrates. Let's take a look at the first one known as “Charas.” This is one of the oldest methods to making marijuana concentrates.  This method is done by hand where the harvested buds are collected to maintain the psychoactive and medicinal ingredients, which are naturally concentrated inside the trichomes of the marijuana plant. Because of the high level of resin, it is easy o collect the by rubbing the buds with the hands once they become mature. Harvesting and trimming marijuana can cause a build up on the scissors used and on the fingers too. When a little friction is added by rubbing the resins in the palm of the hands, it turns in marijuana concentrates known as ‘gum.' So, this is one method that has worked for the Hindus and Jamaicans..

The Dry Sifting Method

This method is done by rubbing the weed using a screen to separate the trichomes, especially those with lots of resin. This method has been used for marijuana concentrates dating back to thousands of years. When you use this method, it gives you a high level of potency. This method needs to be done by people with the skill and experience.

Bubble Hash Method

The bubble hash method has been very popular in making marijuana concentrates. It is pretty much similar to the dry sift method, but in automated form. This method was developed in 1944 by Mila Jansen and it is transformed into cannabis concentrates and sold in Amsterdam coffee shops and elsewhere.

CBD Oil

As we come to understand CBD oil more, we have come to be aware that this is the ideal product that many people use as a means of treating certain illnesses such as seizures.  Marijuana concentrates can be made in CBD oil form so that it can have a lower level of potency for those who cannot handle THC psychoactive potent ingredients.
